A natural material with unique properties
The balsa tree (ochroma lagopus) is native to the humid equatorial forests of South and Central America. It is the lightest commercial wood in the world, with a density of only 40-340 kg/m³, while maintaining extraordinary strength.
Thanks to its unique properties, balsa has been used in many areas - from the construction of rafts (the famous Kon-Tiki) through aircraft modeling to the production of the highest quality fishing floats.
